Montreal, July 15, 2007– François Gagnon, professor at the Electrical Engineering Department of ETS and Ultra Electronics (TCS) wireless telecommunications chair holder is happy to announce the launch of COMunity, a new entity that will be dedicated to exploring high bandwidth wireless communications and to pushing them beyond their limits.

Since the creation of the Ultra Electronics (TCS) wireless telecommunications Chair in 2001, the variety of projects carried out by the team has been such that the creation of a new entity had become necessary to organize the work, disseminate the results and possibly generalize them for the benefit of interested potential partners.

The variety of ongoing projects is impressive. Sometimes oriented towards fundamental research topics, sometimes related to specific and concrete applications, the research efforts carried out by the COMunity team are aimed at optimizing the available equipments by working at improving their performance, safety and versatility, while reducing their cost, associated risk and complexity. In summary, COMunity contributes to the growing accessibility of telecommunications.

COMunity puts a lot of emphasis on the building of its team members’ communication, teaching and creativity skills. COMunity is more than a research group, it is a community of individuals who are driven by the desire to share their knowledge.
