An increasingly active COMunity |
| _in the heart of SYTACom | |||||
Montreal, February, 2008 – In order to promote its research efforts conducted on communications systems and technologies by means of highly innovative research activities and the training of highly qualified personnel, ETS was recently invited to join the Centre for Advanced Systems and Technologies in Communications (SYTACom). SYTACom is a McGill affiliated research centre which was founded in 2004 by virtue of a Regroupement stratégique award from Quebec’s Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la nature et les technologies (FQRNT). SYTACom brings together multi-disciplinary teams of researchers in signal processing, transmission technologies, networks, software engineering and computer science. SYTACom new members include three professors from ETS’ Department of Electrical engineering, namely Christine Tremblay, François Gagnon and Zbigniew Dziong. ETS thereby becomes the fifth institutional member of SYTACom in addition to McGill University, Laval University, the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) and Concordia University. |

_distinguishes itself at the Club Télécom |
Montréal, March 12, 2008 – ETS hosted the 38th dinner-meeting of the Club Telecom, which brings together the main players of the Quebec telecommunications community and promotes exchanges and collaborations. Throughout the event, the participants were invited to visit a series of stands which were presenting solutions related to the various technological aspects of security. The tour of ETS’ telecommunications infrastructures, given by COMunity, was a great success. About 50 participants attended the presentation that was given by Professor Gagnon and subsequently had the opportunity to appraise the facilities which are available to ETS’ researchers and students to pursue their research efforts. |
