WiSE - The series of tests continues |
 |
 |
| |
October 2008 - After the first successful tests were carried out on July 28th, a series of tests over a period of 3 days (October 30th, 31st and November 5th) was conducted with the Chair’s mobile station. These tests were conducted under various conditions: direct line of sight on a site located in Ontario, North of Lancaster, urban environment, around ETS, and finally wooded environment, close to Mirabel.

These tests, which are aimed at studying a WiMAX 802.16d communication, were conducted using both a directional antenna integrated into the client module and an omnidirectional antenna purchased for the purpose of these tests. A special thanks to Rafael Labedan, Laurent Mouysset and Christian Talbot for their efforts during these tests. |

Ultra's Chair - Students present their project |
 |
| |
Ville St-Laurent, November 7, 2008 - ETS’ Ultra Electronics TCS Chair financially supports several master’s and doctorate students in the field of wireless telecommunications with the aid of several governmental bodies.
The objective of this collaboration is to explore future technologies which could be integrated into Ultra’s products. These research efforts also allow the training of several highly qualified personnel.
For several years, our students have been presenting their projects once a year, in the form of a conference, to a dozen engineers from Ultra. This constituted an excellent occasion to generate suggestions and constructive comments. This

| A SUCCESSFULL DEMO – PROMPT 2008 Annual Symposium |
 |
| |
Montreal, November 20th, 2008 – The 2008 PROMPT Annual meeting took place at the Marché Bonsecours under the theme “Meshing innovation”. During this event, ETS in collaboration with INRS-EMT, McGill University, Concordia University, Nortel, Bell Canada, ISR Technologies and Ultra Electronics conducted a live mobile deployment demo of the emergency unit. Within the framework of this joint demo, ETS brought the WiMAX communication system (base station and client) as well as the mobile unit equipped with a telescopic mast, while INRS provided an agile antenna that has a configurable radiation pattern and McGill University defined the scenario and presented simulations on the impact of radiation within a medical context. |
